Antenna balun 21-69 with F angled socket. The balun allows to connect the antenna with a symmetrical output with an impedance of 300 Ohm to an unbalanced antenna socket with an impedance of 75 ohm. A typical antenna has a balanced output with an impedance of 300 ohms, while a coaxial cable is an unbalanced load with an impedance of 75 ohms. Therefore, in order to connect the antenna with the coaxial cable while maintaining the fit (using devices with the same impedance in the entire system), an intermediate element, i.e. a balun, should be used. A balun is a passive device that uses a transformer to change impedance and transition from symmetrical to unsymmetrical lines.
