Measuring the thickness of a material using ultrasound is especially useful when there is access from only one side of the object. E.g. pipelines, tanks, cisterns, glass structures, etc. Materials suitable for ultrasonic thickness measurement are metals, glass and plastics. The condition is the homogeneity of the material, the parallelism of the walls on both sides, and that the surfaces are not too uneven. Auto power off after 2 minutes. Probe diameter 8 mm.
