Splendor: Duel is a new version of the popular economic game, fully adapted for board game couples and duos. It features a modified gem marker matching system and brand new cards with additional skills and bonuses. These will make two-player games even more challenging and exciting!
What does it involve?
In his turn, the player either takes markers from the board or uses the markers he has to buy gem cards, with which he gains prestige points and crowns. These in turn bring him closer to winning. Jewel cards also provide additional skills and bonuses that reduce the cost of subsequent cards. In this way, our purchasing options expand with each turn.
To win, at the end of his turn, the player must fulfil 1 of the 3 conditions indicated on the victory tile.
Why will you love this game?
- Just like in the classic Splendor game, here too there is a race to see who can meet the victory condition first. This can be done in 3 different ways, so we constantly have to keep an eye on the other player while ensuring our own sustainability.
- The special board on which the gem markers are placed and the associated additional rules also make this part of the game more strategic. From now on, you can not only steal the colours you need from your opponent, but also limit his possibilities of combining them!
- The gem cards in this version have gained special abilities. Not only do they permanently produce crystals in the right colour for us, but they also provide bonuses such as the ability to play an extra turn, steal markers from the opponent or extra privileges.
- Despite the modifications, the game retains its simple character and is still perfectly suited to the beginning of a board game adventure.
