Innovative mechanics
Scythe is undoubtedly an innovative and mechanically refined game. It uses the principle of a continuous selection of actions, which means that after the action of one player, the next turn comes immediately, so there is no downtime while waiting for your turn. The game also introduced such novelties as: the affiliation of resources to the site, and thus to the player controlling the area at the time, as well as a double benefit from the development of simultaneous increase in the efficiency of the actions performed and a reduction in their cost.
Players prove in the game factions with clearly different abilities and style of play. Their asymmetry and diversity, and at the same time regrywalność, further increases the random selection of the player's faction and board. The meeting cards always give the players three possible ways to implement their actions. Each game will be different and unique.
Unusual graphics of Jakub Różalski
Graphic design, and at the same time the world in which the game takes place, was created by Jakub Różalski, a Polish illustrator who lives and works in Krakow. In his works inspired sometimes by the Polish-Bolshevik war, he combined the motifs of classical Polish painting with elements of science fiction. His paintings from the 1920+ series depict the Polish countryside, farmers at work or soldiers fighting with white weapons, and at the same time futuristic machines and battle robots. The most important Polish TVP, Onet, Gazeta Wyborcza and Newsweek media talked about his works. What's more, it was Jakub Różalski's work that inspired Jamey Stegmaier to create the Scythe game.
Stunning success on Kickstarter
The Scythe game was released using crowdfunding on the Kickstarter platform. She collected 1.8 million dollars, and its edition was supported by almost 18 thousand people. Thanks to this sum of money, it was possible to enrich the game with additional sets of cards and improve the quality of components. What is most important, the quality of the edition will be able to delight anyone who buys it, not only those who supported its release on Kickstarter.
