FARO Unit1 Maverick M Smart Helmet
The FARO Unit 1 has 3 light elements fully integrated into the structure. Each of them has a specific function, which is designed to provide visibility or communication with the driver. As a result, the cyclist is more visible on the road and his actions become predictable for other road users. A helmet in size M will fit a head with a circumference of 55.5 - 59 cm.
Above all, the helmet must fulfill one function: to protect the head. FARO Unit 1 has been designed and thoroughly tested to the highest safety standards. The helmet has a hard ABS shell and an EPS insert that absorbs impacts and protects the rider's head. It is fully certified by CPSC and EN 1078, two major international safety certifications. The Mips System internal low-friction insert is installed between the rider's head and the inside of the helmet. It has no effect on the fit, but allows the helmet to rotate slightly during impact, absorbing additional energy and increasing brain protection.
Even after an accident, the FARO Unit 1 can help the cyclist. Equipped with accelerometers, the FARO device can detect a strong fall. If the cyclist does not respond, the device sends an SOS text message to a predetermined emergency contact, including the location of the cyclist. An important element is also the ventilation system in the FARO Unit 1 helmet. It has hidden air inlets (just above the eyes), two large vents at the top and one large vent at the back. This creates an internal airflow from front to back, while the rider moves forward, sucking in cold air and letting out hot air.
The designers of the Unit 1 helmet have come up with a way to increase the number of lamps in the helmet without spoiling its minimalist appearance. They hid the lights in a unique material that is resistant to water, dust and UV radiation, and at the same time transmits light. As a result, the light is only visible when it is turned on and gives a unique, mesmerizing effect. Hidden light is also fully programmable, supporting custom animations and color changes.
Thanks to the IPX-6 waterproof class, which guarantees total protection against water jets flowing from different directions with a capacity of up to 100 liters per minute, the electronics in the helmet are fully protected. The material lining is additionally covered with a hydrophobic coating, so it will not get wet. FARO Unit 1 has a magnetic fidlock that can be operated with one hand. Thanks to it, putting on and taking off the helmet is child's play. The buckle itself is actually stronger than traditional fasteners – it withstands up to 65 kg of pressure.
The application allows the user to set monthly driving goals (distance and calorie burn) and track progress over time. The Gamification feature is designed to motivate the user to exercise through fun cycling challenges. Importantly, the FARO App also includes a key safety feature: fall detection and the ability to send a message to an emergency contact. The special Fresh Air Index function measures the positive environmental impact of your driving. It is expressed in kilograms of CO2 that have not been released into the atmosphere by choosing a bicycle instead of a car.
