The adapters allow you to connect a pair of optical fibers terminated with plugs. Most often used in distribution frames, combining patchcords with pigtails
welded to fiber optic cable or in subscriber outlets. Depending on the design recommendations and functionality, different connectors are used. The most popular connectors on the market today are SC and LC connectors due to the simple snap connection, rectangular cross-section allowing dense packing on the panel and plastic construction (of course outside the ferrule).
